What is the difference between smoothening and straightening hair?

i want to smoothen my hair and not straighten.. can u pls tell me if smoothening result in damaging hair? or is it safe? pls suggest me ......

With smoothing, you can still have wavy or curly hair, it is just not as frizzy; whereas straightening not only calms frizz but makes the hair appear straight.

Any chemical or heat treating your hair is damaging. Basically anything you do to your hair is damaging. As long as you make sure you treat your hair with good moisturising products, I wouldn't worry.
