The Chi Irons are the best in my opinion. While expensive their plates won't cause as much damage to your hair as a cheap straightener would. And they heat up fast and get really hot so you would only have to straighten a piece of hair just once so you don't get any more breakage or damage then you would if you had to keep straightening the same piece.
