A Chi is a brand of ceramic straightening iron. You basically use it daily but it works better than cheaper straightening irons and lasts longer. They sell some products to prevent damage to the hair - that is the "system." I used other styling products and never used theirs.

There are other ceramic irons on the market. I kept having problems with the power cords failing on the Chi, so I bought a Sedu last time and liked it better.

All straightening irons will eventually damage your hair if used daily even if you use protectants. I've been styling mine curly and gave up straightening awhile ago. It looks better.

Hello I have experience with the Chi straightening and have 12 clients that now keep their hair straight. The chemical to do this is remarkable how the hair is transformed and the texture of the hair feels wonderful. Depending on length of hair it takes from 3 to 6 hours to be precise and accurate. Maintenance is every 5 to 6 months for touch up on new growth. I am a 30 year Cosmotologist in this industry and I have been straightening hair with Chi system for 3 years and it is a remarkable system.
