I have shoulder length thickish blonde hair. I straighen it after every shower I take (about every other day). Is this destroying my hair? And also what would you say is the best straightener (I know a Chi is pretty good)?
Hair Straightening Questions?
I acutally work at a hair salon- Here to tell you couple of ways to keep your hair nice ( its part of job- truly). Chi is a nice Iron but the reason is becasue its a FULL ceramic iron (not coated) and they actually straighten alot better and quicker- so any full ceramic iron is good it does less damage. There are other ones out there too.
Note: If you have really FINE HAIR use less heat the the thincker the hair the more heat you can use.
Also if your worried about damage it always good to use a heat protectant before you straighten even before blow drying. Also try some fortaying shampoo or repartaive if you have been using heat tools. ( Not for to long- but long enough to get your hair healthy) If you use to much protein for too long - that can make you hair brittle. Hope that helps.. Gotta run - bye

i have a chi and i think its the best straightener. use thermal protectant spray before you blow dry and before you staighten your hair that way it won't damage it.

I straighten my hair most everyday too, it is not nessasarily destoring your hair but it is deffinatly not the greatest thing you could do for it. Try to give your hair a break every now and then though because it can be very stressful on your hair. Just never straighten it wet, always let it dry or blowdry it.

well..it depends on the straigtener and i guess that Chi is pretty good(but in my opinion)
Hair Straightening Questions?
Yes , after awhile your hair will become very dry and smell like youve burnt it. Mine has done this so i just started to scrunch it everyother day or wear it in a ponytail so i wouldnt have to straigten it as much and that helped a lot. My friend has a chi and it makes your hair super straight but it is very damaging.

yes that is damaging your hair!!! thats way too much.... plus you probably have a lot of split ends.. i would advise u not do straighten it that much.

Straightening your hair is one of the harshest things you can do to it. I'm sure your hair is fried. Every other day is way too much, try limiting to special occassions.

If you keep straightening your hair, it will start to break and get dry and then soon fall out. You ar runing your hair.To start fixing it from this point put a lot of moisturizers in your hair. And yes i luv chi. Another way of stairghtning your hair though while making it even healthier is by getting perms.
Hair Straightening Questions?
I have a CHI it is awesome but instead of straitening your hair after a shower blow dry your hair it doesn't fry your hair and it will have the same affect and it will make your hair look like it has more volume. If you straighten your hair to much the straightener will fry your hair.
Hair Straightening Questions?
My hair is naturally thick and quite curly and I have been straightening it ever since I was old enough to be able to afford a pair of pricey straighteners!! (so about 3/4 years) I use GHD hair straighteners which I find to be really good. They have ceramic plates which help retain the moisture in your hair. In fact, they have a lot of technology which is supposed to protect your hair (check out their website i guess!) and I would say they do work wonders - and they do protect your hair compared to other straighteners. I have found other straighteners (cheaper brands) to leave my hair looking frizzy and dry but GHD's (and I'm sure other equally expensive brands) make your hair not only nice and straight but also sleek and shiny also.
To protect your hair from the heat damage you should use a defence spray before you start straightening. To keep your hair in good condition use a good conditioner and maybe buy an intense leave in conditioner/hair mask to use every so often to give it a good moisture boost. I also try and let my hair dry naturally before straightening instead of blow drying because it means less heat damage.
Try and leave your hair natural every so often to give it a break though! But with a good pair of straighteners and the right products your hair should be fine!
