I heard Chi is freakin amazing, but does it work for African-american hair as well? and Which one is the best to get for it ?
Which Chi Hair straightening iron is best for African-american hair ?
The CHIs are great but I suggest you go to Folica.com and check out the Sedu or the Solia.
I have the Solia. It costs less and was way more effective than my CHI. Granted I had the original CHI, w/o the temperature dial, but still.
Don't forget to get a heat protectant. The CHI silk infusim (i think that's the name) is the absolute best!!!

Both my cousins rave about this product as well. One has relaxed hair, and the other is natural with an afro.
You would never know that the one with the afro is natural because once she runs that chi through her hair, she looks like she has a relaxer.
If I'm not mistaken, I think one of them has the pink (?) one. But the other has all kinds. They swear by it.

the original black chi is the best by far and it also comes in pink now to support breast cancer

If you have very coarse, thick hair get it relaxed / chemically treated. I am a mix, so I have a combination but my hair is naturally pretty wild, and honestly the chemical treatments are so much more worth it than the flat irons.
The CHI works great, but I had to replace one of mine after awhile. So with the amount of money you save replacing $150-200 flat irons, and the amount of money you save on hair products constantly, and the amount of TIME you save sitting there straightening (not to mention the blow drying that occurs before that) is SO WORTH IT to get it chemically treated. I highly recommend it!

theyre all suitable.
the turbo is meant more for styling as well, and is a bit more expensive. its meant to wave, twist, etc. the regular one is meant for straightening.
i have the regular one. im not african-american but im italain and native american, so my hair is very thick, curly stubborn and coarse! you'd never guess it though because the chi keeps me straight, shiny and smooth.
word of advice though, the chi's arent meant to be used for everyday "touchups" and it can damage your hair that way. try to get it real straight the first time and leave it for a few days before washing. That's what I do.
