I've had my hair spiral permed for the past 7 years. Lately, I've been thinking about getting it straight again. It's way too difficult to use a straightener every day, so I'd have to get it chemically straightened. Before perming, my hair was pretty straight. (I could make it my dry hair stick straight using a hairdryer in 5-10 minutes, wet hair dried with the hairdryer would be perfectly straight.) It has been about 3 months since I last permed my hair and it is to my shoulders. Has anyone gone from a curly perm to a straight perm? Will this be permanent (because roots should not be a problem as they will be straight)? Does a straightening perm cost about the same amount as a curly perm?
Thanks
Chemical Hair Straightening after perm?
i have naturally curly hair, very tight kinky curls. when curly it is about to my shoulders but i straighten with a wet2straight flat iron. i tried to chemically straighten it and it fried my hair. also i would have to get it done about every 4 weeks and each time it would get a little straighter. i found for me it is easier and less damage to wash my hair at night and braid it so the curls aren't so tight and straighten in the morning in about 20 min. or straighten at night and just touch up in the morning. after perming for so long i don't know if i would risk it. good luck!!
Chemical Hair Straightening after perm?
when i had my hair spiral permed i did love it but at the beauty shop i was told it was going to cost about 60 to take it out i really did not want to pay that so i went to a local wal mart and bought a over the counter home Perm instead of using curlers i followed the direction but i just keep brushing the hair straight and it went straight for me i had a friend tell me that a perm and straightener were really no different it worked for me it only coasted me 10 instead of 60
Chemical Hair Straightening after perm?
Yes! I had recently gotten a perm back in February and although it looked great I just missed it being straight. Sometimes hair styles are easier on straight hair. But what I did was go to Sally Beauty supply and bought a home perm which was undr five dollars. The one I got was a moisturizing alakine. You have to wash your hair and then somewhat towel dry so it is not dripping wet. You put the waving lotion on, take a brush comb it through, let it sit for 20 min wash it out for 3 to 5 min, put the neutalizer on and comb through and leave it on for 5 minutes and wash it out. Now I conditioned my hair very well before I did this ( I was so afraid my hair was going to fall out!) At Sally's I got a little packet of "Ion" conditioner.. now after I washed the neutalizer out I put a small amount of the Ion conditioner on and washed it right out. It helped keep it soft because you treat your hair as a perm and not wash it for 24 hours. Now right after I washed the waving lotion out I noticed a HUGE difference it was straight. I am so happy I did it! Good Luck!!
