you should definatley get a chi. they run for like $190, but you can get one here for 99.95 and it has free shipping:

definately worth it. i have curly hair, too, and the chi works really well
there is also conair ceramic wet-dry 2'' professional straightener for about $22 and its works pretty much as well as the chi does. i picked it up in a desperate act at the store and it worked much better than i thought it would:

also try herbal essences dangerously straight flat out finishing spray and shaper plus by sebastian (its amazing).
good luck!

Ok well I don't know what kind of straightener you have now but the best kind is Chi... but thats a little bit more then you want to spend... so I'd recommend Conair. Thats the kind I've had for a while and I have pretty thick wavy hair and it works good for me!

i hear the chi is only 100. it works really good on my hair. and you don't even know how hard it is straighten this stuff on my head =]

Walmart is where I bought mine and I love it. It was $25.00 and I have extremely long hair. I would use the ones that are skinnier because they get closer to your scalp and doesn't leave creases. Hope this helps. Oh, always get ceramic, its better on your hair.
God Bless!

target has like a LOT of different straighteners. get one with a wide paddle thing and high heat. =]
Hair Straightening!!!!!?
i have reallly thick, long hair also, and i use the helen of troy 3inch. i got it free b/c my friends mom owns a salon, but they sell for about $75. if you search for it on the website just look for the gold plated one!
Hair Straightening!!!!!?
You have to go with a CHI iron. A one inch wide ceramic iron. They get super hot. My sister have super wavy, super thick hair. You wouldn't believe how straight her hair looks after using this iron. She used to put straighteners on her hair before this iron came out. Not anymore. It's a great investment. Its also under a hundred dollars.

First off always make sure you have some sort of heat protector on your hair Paul Mitchell Super Skinny and Redken Smooth Down are what I use most on my clients.
As much as everyone likes the Chi, I think the Corioliss is much better. That is what I use at my salon. I would go with the 1inch for your hair.
