Hi using a good straightening shampoo does help whist straightening after drying, but there are heat protection products that you spray on dry hair, before straightening, Charles Worthington Straightening spray works brilliantly boots sell it its in a blue bottle, if leaves you with poker straight hair, but it smells like aftershave. Also you may want to check the temperature of your straighteners, if you have thick hair you might need at hairstraightener that goes up to 210 degrees, as if i use any heat lower than this it doesnt straighten proply and never goes smooth.Because my hair is quite thick.

Use conditioner always after shampooing. This helps in reducing the frizzes and straightening as well.

I tried manual straightening for many years and finally gave up when I got tired of 20 minutes of blow drying everyday. Go with a hair treatment called thermal reconditioning (also called Yuko). It's a bit expensive (around $300) but I haven't had to blowdry my hair ever since. The hair is super straight, no frizz ever. I get it redone about every 9 months, and after the initial treatment, the touch ups are cheaper. Here's an article. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2002/06...
Good Luck!

i straighten my hair using Frederic Fekkai glossing cream. i put it on right after i get out of the shower. then i blow dry. then i put on more glossing cream. if my hair still looks frizzy while i'm straightening, then i add more of the cream. it works great!
